Archeology

The archeological sites at the territory of the municipality of Gazi Baba date from the Primeval and the Ancient period. They are located throughout the whole municipal territory and they preserve evidence of the spiritual and material culture of the people two millenniums ago.

 

Archeological site in the village of Brnjarci

Irma is a settlement from the Roman period. It is located south-east of the village. Findings of a bigger object have been discovered in the fields.

Ljatina is a necropolis from the Roman period. It is located 2 km south of the village, where remains of roman grave steles and several old coins are visible on a 50 x 50 area.

Tumba, a Neolithic settlementIt is located 1 km south of the village. Fragments of ceramic pots, flints and stone tools were discovered on an area of 0.50 ha.
 

Archeological site in the village of Bulachani

Kula – a refugium from the late Ancient period. 2.5 km north of the village of Bulachani and the village of Rashtak, stone walls and lime mortar are visible on a high mountain cliff on a 100 x 30 m area.
 

Archeological site in Kamnik

It is a necropolis from the Roman period, where 7 tombs (4 inhumane and 3 cremated decedents) have been discovered.
 

Archeological site in Madzari

Ograda, is a settlement from the Roman period, discovered in a field on an area of 5 ha. A number of fragments of ceramic pots and construction material, as well as foundations of several objects have been found during the excavations.

Tumba, is a Neolithic settlement, situated in the northeastern part of Skopje, in an area between Madzari 2 and Chento, close to the football field. These remains are part of a multi-layer settlement, consisting of a 3m layer, marking the 3 living horizons from the middle Neolithic age. Remains of many ceramic pots have been found. The cult plastic is also a significant discovery. The Great Mother Goddess (protector of fertility) is represented among the Neolithic cultures of the Balkan regions in an unknown way. The Goddess is a symbol of narrative iconography, enriched with paleo-ethnographic details.

Dimche Miloshevski Street, a single discovery from the Roman period, where a large fragment of a tombstone with Latin inscriptions has been found.
 

Archeological site in the village of Rashtak

Chiflik is a settlement from the late Ancient period, located about 300m south of the village, on an area of 3 ha. An abundance of construction materials and plenty more fragments of ceramic pots and emperor’s coins can be found in this settlement.
 

Archeological site in Rokomija

A single discovery from the Roman period, where a tomb dating from the IV century, has been discovered. Four grave steles with Latin inscriptions have been used for its construction.
 

Archeological site in the village of Stajkovci

Tumba – Krusha is a settlement from the Neolithic and the Roman period. A tumba is visible between the village of Stajkovci and the village of Singjelik on an area of 2 ha. Numerous fragments of ceramic pots, flints, stone tools, house materials and rare findings from the Roman period have been dug out.
 

Archeological site in Hipodrom

Kluchka – Hipodrom is a necropolis from the late Bronze Age and a settlement from the Medieval Age. Tombs full of urns of cremated decedents, (total of 11 tombs-urns), as well as remains of a Medieval settlement have been found.
 

Archeological site in the village of Creshevo

Krshi Dol is a necropolis from the Roman period where many graves with Latin inscriptions have been found. Selishte a single discovery from the Roman period where a sacrificial altar with a Latin inscription, dedicated to the gods Jupiter and Junona, has been found.
 

Artifacts in Smiljkovce

Smiljkovce, is a settlement from the Roman period where foundations of objects built from stone and lime mortar have been discovered. Construction materials and fragments of ceramic pots can be found on the surfaces.
